Place to run in San Diego

As if you needed another reason to get out and run

I get questions all the time about where the best places in San Diego are to run.  I'm bias and I love running everywhere that San Diego Track Club takes me.  From the beach to the trails, we run it all.  But when I'm not with SDTC, I'm lucky enough to have other groups to run with!!  Here are a list of running clubs/groups in the area.  Check them out and go get your miles in!

Milestone Running Club - Milestone Running is proud to host a weekly run club in the North Park neighborhood.  Being located in North Park, we are just a few blocks away from a number of different running routes and trails in San Diego's Balboa Park.
Come join our weekly run club every Wednesday at 6:00 PM in front of the Milestone Running store.  Here we will have announcements and great guests, followed by your choice of a 5k(3.1 miles) or 5 mile run. Once your run is complete, an assortment of refreshments and snacks will be waiting.  Also, we will be raffling off prizes at the end of each run!
This run club is for all levels of runners, walkers, and joggers; whether you're training for race, pushing a stroller, or walking a dog, come join us and be part of the Milestone family.

Movin Shoes - North County and PB!!

Early Bird Run Club - Shelter Island, Sail Bay, and Harbor Island

Santee Women's Running Meetup - This is a group for anyone looking for a running buddy. I started this group to meet other runners (or want to be runners) in my area who are in search of an accoutibilibuddy.

San Diego Running Meet Up Group - The San Diego Running Meetup is a great place to meet other San Diego runners. We've got a great group of organizers who keep the calendar full of events. From track workouts to trail runs, all level of runners are welcome. If you're looking for a running partner, come to some of the planned events, or post a message. With over 4000 members, you're bound to find another runner with similar goals as you.

The San Diego North County Running Meetup - Meet others in your local area to Run with. Plan group runs and participate in various long and short distance running. We currently have a growing group of runners who train together in North County San Diego. We try to get in a track workout and a trail run every week. We are a laid back group and welcome runners of all levels and abilities.

North Park Women's Running Group -Would love to meet some other women runners in the area! I am not a fast runner by any means (I run anywhere between a 9:30-11 minute mile) and would like this group to be a place where we can get together and take nice runs around Balboa Park. This is a weekly running group for women where we'll go on 3-5 mile runs around the park and then grab a drink afterwards at one of North Park's many awesome spots. We will meet at Bird Park (Upas & 28th) every week and I will post the route the day before so you can print it out if you like. Hope to see you there!

SD Fun Run - It's pretty straightforward. We're a group of people that like to RUN and have fun! Every Wednesday we meet at a different local bar throughout San Diego, go for a run, and finish back at the bar to cool down and socialize over drinks. If you're in your 21-30s (or just think you can hang) with a fun and outgoing personality looking to meet new people, then come join us!  All running paces are welcome!  Whether you are new to San Diego, or just want to escape the humdrum of everyday life, these Wednesday runs are a great way to unplug.

King of the Hill Trail Running - This meetup is for anyone that currently runs off road or is interested in giving trail running a try. We meet at various times throughout the week to check out some of the incredible local trails around San Diego. It's free and open to all.

Run North County - Run North County is dedicated to promoting and supporting locally organized Fun Runs in North County, San Diego.

If you have any other suggestions, let us know!!

Board Update

The SDTC Board of Directors congratulates both Tom Bache and Ashley Harbecke on their new board positions.

Tom Bache – New SDTC Board Vice President
At the January 2016 board meeting Tom was unanimously elected by the board to be our club’s new vice-president.  Tom will continue to captain the club’s Men’s Masters Team while taking on this new position.  He has been a current board member since 2009.  Tom has said that the SDTC is a family affair for him.  His parents first joined the SDTC when they moved to San Diego in 1968.  His father ran on the Men’s Team from then until the early 70’s and also edited the newsletter in the 70’s.  Tom’s mother was a past President of the SDTC.  Tom and his sisters ran for the SDTC junior teams in the late 70’s and 80’s.  He got involved in the SDTC when he moved back to San Diego in 2004 and has been running on the Men’s teams since then.

Ashley Harbecke – New SDTC Board Treasurer

At the January 2016 board meeting Ashley was unanimously elected by the board to be our club’s new treasurer. Ashley decided to fill the void when Bill Kullback decided to step down from the position and the board in December. She has a degree in finance and economics and has been a current board member since 2013. Ashley will continue to be the club’s volunteer coordinator, newsletter editor and social chair.  She is very excited to hold a new position on the board.

How many of you have wanted to show your Track Club pride by flashing your official membership ID card?   Well now you can earn major "street cred" with your friends and get big membership only discounts with local retailers by showing your current SDTC member card.
Membership cards are now available via your ClubExpress member profile. Use your smart phone to save the member card image so it's always with you. Or, if your more old school, print it out and keep a copy in your wallet/purse.

Example

Cool! So how do I access my card?
To access your member card you must be a current member.

If you are not a current member please join or renew via our Membership page

If you are a current member, login to the website. Then go to your Profile and you will see a link to download your virtual Membership Card.

We encourage you to go green and use your smart phone's "capture screen shot" feature to take a picture of your member card and have it with you everywhere you go!
You may also print a color copy at home, laminate it or make a banner or wallpaper your house with it. Ok, just kidding but you get the point. If you want to make a hard-copy version you may. However the club will not be mailing or printing these cards out for you. If you have questions or need assistance please contact Krysal Montalvo our Membership Director at membership@sdtc.com

New RnR Shirts!!

As most you may or may not know, we had a little hiccup with our RnR training shirts this year.  Or should I say our RnR TRANING shirts??  It wasn't until after the shirts were handed out that we noticed a spelling error on all 500 of our brand new RnR t-shirts.  You can imagine how disappointed we were. Luckily, Rise Up Industries is a class act company and had no problem printing out 500 new shirts with the correct spelling of training on it.  Rumor has it, there may be a few other changes as well!!  Not sure when we will get the new shirts, but I have a feeling it will be sooner than later.
Sorry again for sending you home with a TRANING.  I have no doubt the new shirts we get will be perfect!!
